Re-Instate’s Community Hub operates a number of commercial activities for the benefit of people who use our services.
Basils’ (named after Basil Huett, the Founder of Re-Instate) is Re-Instate’s five-star kitchen and refreshment area offering drinks and snacks to groups and people who use our facilities.
Basils’ is run by people who use our services. We offer work placements that include the opportunity to study for accredited qualifications in Safer Food Handling and Customer Service.
In April 2019, Re-Instate launched Spud Buddies, a pop-up food stall, offering healthy food to the local community. Spud Buddies offers clients work experience in catering and customer care, preparing for open employment.
In October 2019, we launched Wax Buddies our co-produced project to make tea-cup candles for sale at craft events and on-line through our shop.
We offer local groups the opportunity to hire our space and facilities. Our space can be hired at £20 per hour plus VAT weekdays, £25 per hour plus VAT evenings (after 6pm) and £35 per hour plus VAT weekends. We can also provide drinks and snacks at an additional charge.

Re-Instate’s Social Enterprise is based at the Community Hub and can often be a first step towards people achieving work goals. Engaging with the Social Enterprise gives people a sense of purpose, as well as a practical work experience in a wide variety of commercial practices. The development of work and social skills help to build confidence, and are a stepping-stone towards competitive employment. The work experience supports skills development, including:
➽ Customer service
➽ Health & Safety management
➽ Operations and work-flow
➽ Fulfillment and collation
➽ Admin and office skills
➽ Quality Control
➽ Team working
Whilst engaging with the Social Enterprise hub, people will be able to access appropriate courses to support employability in preparation for open employment.
Re-Instate welcomes volunteers. We have roles available in our Community Hub, Social Enterprise and Employment Service. Recent placements include nursing students wishing to gain experience in mental health or learning disabilities and young people on work experience. Re-Instate holds accreditation for working with young people on work experience aged 16-18. For further information please contact Simon Hart.

Living Well is Re-Instate’s project that supports people with learning disabilities in the London Borough of Bexley to access a range of co-produced and peer supported services. Piloted in 2018, we are looking to develop Living Well in 2019 and would welcome potential partners and funders.
